Fresh Out Of Ideas? Let Us Help!

We know the feeling; you’ve had a cracking social media content plan all Summer and now things are starting to slow down a little, you don’t know what to post. So, what do you do when you’re fresh out of ideas for social media?

“Writers block” is totally normal, especially if you’re looking to maintain a consistent stream of posts and a busy content calendar. We all get it, and staring at your phone or PC wondering what to post doesn’t always help!

So, what do you post on those days where you literally don’t know what to write? Well, we’re here to help you with some fresh ideas to keep your content rolling!

It’s all about the “Quotes”

Quotes are really good ‘filler content’.  I bet you’ve scrolled through many an Instagram feed and seen it full of quotes. Don’t just write any old quote, search for one that’s relevant to your business or product…the internet will be full of them!

There will be lifestyle quotes, motivational quotes and even ones from famous people who may fit into your brand!

Note: We would always recommend coming up with your own creative assets to share the quote, don’t just post images that you see on the internet, as these may be subject to copyright!  Also, always remember to credit who the quote is from (if it’s from a person etc.)

Share Stock Photos, Animations and Videos

Ok, so original content is always best, but if you don’t have it and need to produce posts and fast, there’s nothing wrong with sharing stock photos, animations and videos.  This is a great way to build a strong aesthetic as stock photos are always creative, engaging and high quality!

There are tons of free and paid stock photo websites including i-Stock, Unsplash, Shutterstock to name a few! Here’s some we found for ‘cupcakes’ on Unsplash to give you an idea as to the quality of images you can find with a stock photo (they look great, huh?!)

Note: Always make sure you’ve gone to the correct website and downloaded the image properly, simply taking it off the internet covered in watermarks and sharing that is a big ‘NO-NO!

Post About Relevant Social Media Holidays

When in doubt, there are TONS of social media holidays out there that are perfect for filling out your calendar when you’re stuck.  From #DoughnutDay to #BlackCatDay there’s always something you can find relevant for your brand.  Read our blog ‘How To Make The Most of A Trending Topic on Social Media’ for more ideas on how to make this work.

Share Lifestyle Content

We love lifestyle content here at Social Soda.  This type of content doesn’t fit a specific genre or category, it can be literally anything!  Make sure that it does match your brand identity and aesthetic though, don’t just post this for the sake of it!

Maybe your business is close to an area that has stunning scenery or sees amazing sunsets, these are all great things to post about.  Have a look around you, you’ll be amazed as to what you can come up with!

Share User Generated Content (UGC) From Your Community

This is a no brainer and a great way to fill your feed with beautiful, genuine content and it’s also valuable to your audience.

User Generated Content (UGC) is any form of content, such as images, videos, text, and audio, that has been posted by users on social media platforms to promote a brand.

Don’t just re-post every single post you’re tagged in, take some time to go through the posts and images and see if they fit into your brand.  You can group them into different themes, like reviews, product photos etc.

Our future blog ‘How to use User Generated Content on Instagram’ will help you with this. Look out for it, coming soon!

Go Behind the Scenes

We all love a sneaky peek behind-the-scenes and for those looking for a solution as to what to post on social media, behind-the-scenes content is like gold dust!

Your followers are always curious about how your products are made, who the people are behind the brand, what the business looks like behind the scenes and what you have planned for the future, so take the time to share this information with them!

Not only does this open up great opportunities to create engaging content your followers will love, but it also gives you another way to be authentic on social media and build a deeper connection with your community.

So, there you have it, some more ideas on what to post on social media.  We’ve helped you, right?!
